QQ for Mac is an instant messager client by Chinese internet giant Tencent Inc. for the ever-growing Mac users who need the service.

As of Feb. 20, the installed QQ for Mac after a download is still in Ver. 1.0 Beta2 (build 676)

But apparently, the development of QQ for Mac is far behind its counterpart on Windows computers. It was first launched in the second half of 2008 and until today its download-able installation is still a beta version, specifically, QQ for Mac 1.0 Beta 2(676) , which was released in January 2011. On Windows, there are quite some tools/softwares available on the market to remove the EXIF info of pictures saved in JPG, PNG, or TIFF etc.). Among them, Exif Tag Remover from RL Vision is my favorite as it’s very easy to use due to its intuitive GUI.

However, RL Vision’s Exif Tag Remover doesn’t have a version for Mac (at least as of the day this post is entered). Because now a 21.5inch iMac has become the prime work force for me, I definitely need an equivalent of Exif Tag Remover.

Searching “exif remover mac,” “exif remover for mac,” “mac exif tag remover” in Google, I eventually located a thread in which a user pointed out there is an application called SmallImage for Mac.

Being directed to the website, I found it was a brainchild of a Swiss genius who spent his spare time creating this exif tag remover for Mac. It is a freeware, no a penny charged!

SmallImage Is Exif Remover for JPG on Macs
Exif Remover On Mac: SmallImage Can Remove Exif for Images saved as JPG

SmallImage, Exif Tag Removing App on Mac

SmallImage’s latest stable version 2.0.6, which is for Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) or earlier. For Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6), SmallImage is in 3.0Beta2, which I downloaded. SmallImage currently works great for me on Mac OS X 10.6.5..

Because of his work priority, that Swiss genius may not spare too much of  time for this of his hobby project. It remains unknown if there is a future stable version to be released.

SmallImage can only remove EXIF for the JPEG images. It doesn’t work for the images saved in PNG, TIFF and a bunch of other formats to be named. Where necessary,  it must be converted to the JPG format first for the latter kind of images before the exif can be deleted using SmallImage.

As you can see from the screencapture of SmallImage’s GUI above, to use this exif remover for JPGs, one simply can drag and drop images into the box, then set the parameters accordingly before finally to hit Process to run the application.

For those Mac users who need an exif tag deletion application, I strongly recommend to have SmallImage, it won’t disappoint you! Please visit SmallImage’s Official Page where once can download its stable 2.0.6 for Mac OS X 10.5 or earlier or 3.0b2 for Mac OS X 10.6.

Boring with iTunes as the only way to sync your photos, documents, folders on iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to a PC or a Mac? If one answers yes, then as a user of Apple Inc.’s iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch,  he/she must give a trial for a versatile, Windows Explorer-alike software named iPhone Explorer.

iPhone Explorer Files Management Software for iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch

iPhone Explorer

As introduced on its official website (definitely worthy of a visit)

iPhone Explorer lets you use an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad as if it were in disk mode or a flash drive. iPhone Explorer is an iPhone browser for Mac & PC that lets you browse the files and folders on your iPhone as if it were a normal USB flash drive or pen drive. You can use the easy drag-and-drop methods to add or remove files and folders from the iPhone.

As iPhone, and iPad, iPod Touch using the same iOS, iPhone Explorer works well on the latter two gadgets. For me as an non-advanced user of iPad/iPod Touch, I use iPhone Explorer to transfer pictures by dragging and dropping from my toys to a iMac. Thus, it’s not necessary for me to go through iPhoto 11 to do the same work then I have to export images from there. (more…)
