Here are photos for the Boeing 737-400 airplane with registration number of PK-LIR of Indonesia’s Lion Air. They were snapped at around 3:15pm on April 4 at Penang International Airport during the take-off of the plane which was then on a duty of flying as Flight JT 287 from Penang (Malaysia) to Medan (Indonesia) .
Checking on Planespotters.com, the exact model of this plane should beĀ Boeing 737-4Y0. It has an age of nearly 20 years. The jet was delivered on Dec. 12, 1990 and leased to Honduras’s now bankrupted SASHA Airlines for a bit over one month. It then went to Brazil’s Transbrasil Airlines (1991 Jan–2000 June) and Varig (2000 July to 2002 April). Before joining Lion Air in December, 2005, the airplane was wih Spain’s Air Europa.
According to Wikipedia, Lion Air will soon phase out the aging Boeing 737-400 jets.
