Penang Bridge currently is only a cross-strait bridge connecting Malaysia’s Penang island to its mainland. The 13-kilometer long dual-carriageway bridge which was built in 1985 is a symbolic of Penang. Many Malaysia’s highway road signs simply use an icon depicting a cable-sratyed Penang Bridge to represent Penang.
The spectacular concrete structure has become a must-visit or must-see ever since being constructed for many tourists to Penang. Besides from being an important economic artery and a scenic landmark, it is the host venue for Penang Bridge International Marathon to promote healthy living and build a sense of community.
