Teochew Opera, an opera with a history of more than 500 years, is well loved by the Teochew diaspora with a population of >10 million in the world.
Recently Fujian Dongshan Youth Teochew Troupe was invited to perform this traditional art in Malaysia.
I went to watch their shows when the artists coming faraway from China made the performance for the people of Taman Lip Sin Chinese community in Penang, as parts of its Ghost Month* celebration activities. FYI, Ghost Month is every July according to the Chinese Lunar Calender. (more…)
